Won in competition against several well known practices, Locate are delighted to have been commissioned to develop this project. Working in partnership with North Woods Construction and A Slight Shift Interpretation Consultants, we have been granted Planning permission and have recently (December 2007) submitted for Building Warrant approval. The project involves the creation of a new Café and Kitchen block (shown, right), but the bulk of the project involves the extensive refurbishment of two traditional estate buildings on the site, along with significant landscape intervention and services infrastructure upgrading. A subtle interpretative element will infuse the whole design. There will be a strong focus on the use of timber grown by Forestry Commission Scotland and the complex will be highly energy efficient and specified to be as healthy and resource efficient as possible. The Design Team also includes Allen Gordon Structural Engineers and Ralph Ogg & Partners Cost Consultants, both of Perth. If funding is secured, the project will start on site early in 2009. |
