Having purchased this delightful but derelict steading in Argyll, Sharon and Roddy approached Locate to help develop a house design for a very tight budget.

Whilst living in a caravan on site, and with Roddy doing much of the work, the project will probably take a long time to complete, but as a labour of love, will be all the more appreciated once it is finished!

The project has received Planning acceptance and a submission has been made for Building Warrant. The natural slate roof will be heavily insulated and we are hoping to insulate the building overall well enough to enable us to keep some areas of the original stone walls exposed.

The house will be heated by wood stoves in the Living and Kitchen areas, with solar thermal panels providing hot water in the warmer months. There will be a double height Kitchen / Dining / Family Room with a section of new timber frame wall and large glazed area to create a sense of space in an otherwise quite restricted shell.
